This has nothing to do with Connecticut, but it’s worth posting because it just may be the greatest buzzer beater in high school history. New Rochelle High School (NY) trailed Mount Vernon, 60-58, with 2.9 seconds left in the Class 1AA New York state championship game on March 3.
New Rochelle’s Khalil Edney made an inbounds pass, which was stolen by a Mount Vernon player, who proceeded to toss the ball into the air to try and run out the clock. The problem is, he didn’t throw it high enough, and Edney came back and grabbed the ball, then chucked it at the basket.
The rest is history.
