It was an exciting sports weekend for me as March madness winds down.
The UConn women were looking to go back to women’s Final Four, but first they’d have to take down 2nd-seeded Kentucky in the East Region final. And as always, Geno’s coaching continues to amaze.
The way the girls worked together was breathtaking to watch. They continued to dominate, thanks to great defense and shooting. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, the best three point shooter in country, got her second personal foul and sat out most of the first half, but center Stephanie Dolson, despite leg and foot injuries, helped the Huskies finish with a 48 to 26 lead at the end of first half.
Bria Hartley continued to shine as did Jefferson, Stewart, and the rest of the Husky women. After a valiant effort, Kentucky went down, 83-53.
What’s more exciting than a sixth straight trip to final four? Go Huskies…
Also caught the Quinnipiac Bobcats win as they head for the Frozen Four. Although ice hockey has not always been on my must watch list, I did have to support the college two of my nine grand children graduated from.
Hope they go all the way.
Finally this weekend I watched the Louisville – Duke game, and what a game it was. It’s always hard to watch when a talented young player like Kevin Ware gets injured in such a bizarre manor, and we all wish him a speedy recovery.
When Louisville managed to settle down, they pressed Duke hard and played an exciting, inspired game. Wow, can you believe the second half? I had a hard time staying seated and certainly was unable to keep quiet. My family will attest to that.
Well, be back soon,
