The nation’s oldest collegiate sporting event will be renewed once again this weekend when Yale and Harvard get together for their annual regatta.
First contested in 1852, the race has survived the Civil War, two World Wars, and Justin Bieber. (Just kidding, Biebs).
Six Yale and Harvard graduates have served terms in the White House since the regatta began. The race will be rowed along the Thames River in New London, where it has been run all but five times since 1878.
Harvard leads the all-time series, 74-37.
It’s a tradition unlike any other.
