Victory Strikes for North Branford Hockey with a 8-4 win against Guilford

The North Branford Thunderbirds faced longtime rival Guilford in what seemed like a neck-and-neck game until North Branford dominated the scoreboard in the third period.

It was a pretty evenly matched game to start things off, with the score being tied for most of the game. North Branford quickly scored two goals to make it a 2-0 lead but Guilford then took advantage of the penalties and scored 2 power play goals. The second period ended 4-4.

Thunderbirds Goalie Will McEwen had many superior saves throughout the entire game and both Guilford and North Branford had tight lines of offense.

As the end of the season is coming, both teams put forth a great effort , battling for a spot in the Division II state tournament. Goals for North Branford were scored by Jordan Glenn, Dom Raccio, Jared Neubig, Brendan Appi, Alec Martone, and Tanner Opie scored two goals.

Guilford now drops to a 1-8 record with a victory against Farmington/Avon/Windsor.

North Branford rises to a 6-8 record and will face Amity on Saturday February 15,2014 at 6:30pm at the Northford Ice Pavilion.

The Indians will take on North Haven February 22,2014 at DiLungo Rink the game begins at 3:30pm.
