delaney Quinnipiac names John Delaney new head baseball coachCurrent Quinnipiac assistant baseball coach John Delaney will take over for retiring head coach Dan Gooley on July 1.

Delaney played four seasons with the Bobcats, graduating in 2008. After graduation he was drafted into the Milwaukee Brewers organization in the 2008 MLB Draft. He reached Class A in 2009 after playing in the Rookie League in 2008. 2010 was his last year in minor league baseball, playing in two independent leagues.

After his minor league career, Delaney worked as an assistant at Sacred Heart and the University of Hartford before returning to Quinnipiac in 2012.

Gooley led the Bobcats from 1977-1987 and 2002 through this season’s end.
