UConn forward Neils Giffey has accepted a roster spot with the Memphis Grizzlies summer league team, according to the website RealGM.
Typically, NBA teams fill their summer league rosters with young players and rookies, and use the games, which are played in Orlando and Las Vegas throughout July, to evaluate their performance.
Many undrafted rookies signed with summer league teams on Thursday night.
The 6-7 Giffey averaged 8.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in 24.7 minutes per game for the Huskies last season. He scored 10 points, including two huge threes, in the national championship game against Kentucky.
Giffey finished the 2013-14 season as the fifth-most accurate three-point shooter in college basketball, knocking down 48.3% of his attempts.
The German-born forward is one of three players (Shabazz Napier, Tyler Olander) to win two national championships with the Huskies.
