(WTNH)–They call indoor lacrosse “the fastest game on two feet,” and soon, it’s coming to Connecticut.
The state’s new professional team, the New England Black Wolves, is getting ready to debut at Mohegan Sun this January.
Indoor lacrosse is sometimes referred to as “box lacrosse,” because it’s one-third the size of a conventional lacrosse field. That’s why there’s more scoring and the game moves so fast.
New England opens the season on January 2, but one of the team’s potential stars is already in Uncasville.
Joel White won a college national championship while at Syracuse and is a veteran of the indoor and outdoor game. He says fans are going to like what they see come January.
“It’s a little different than your typical field lacrosse you see. It has more of a hockey feel, they roll out the turf and put up the hockey boards,” White said. “You bang around, the ball moves way quicker. There is a ton of scoring, you’re scoring 10-20 goals a game so it’s exciting and keeps the fans engaged.”
The Black Wolves should have their complete roster set by later this week. They’ll carry 20 players.
