Quinnipiac women’s basketball went in to the Red Foxes’ den and came out victorious, defeating nine-time defending MAAC champion Marist, 80-62.
Nikoline Ostergaard, one of the many senior players on the Bobcats’ veteran roster, led the team with 21 points and eight rebounds. Four out of the five starters, including Ostergaard, scored in double figures.
“We came up here, got off to a great start, started to seesaw back and forth, really finished the game when it was just anyone’s go out and get and win..,” said Quinnipiac Bobcats head coach Tricia Fabbri. “It’s just great. One game at a time, six games left, still on a mission, we’re in good shape right now, happy to win.”
Rising Senior Tori Jarosz led Marist with 25 points, four rebounds, and four blocks.
With tonight’s win, Quinnipiac is now running on a 12-game winning streak, the first win dating back to January 2 with a home win against Niagara. All 12 wins have been in conference, which gives the Bobcats a strong case for a bid to the NCAA tournament this year.
Quinnipiac has a 22-3 overall record and currently holds a perfect 14-0 conference record. The Bobcats look to extend their streak to 13 on Senior Day Sunday when they face Canisius on their home turf.
Quinnipiac defeated Canisius earlier in the season, winning the game 86-66.
