(WTNH)–The high school football season is long and over, but with the cold weather, it still feels like football weather.
It’s always a good time to celebrate the achievements of high school seniors from the area athletically and academically, at the 55th annual Casey O’Brien Scholar Athlete Awards dinner.
Several area coaches were on hand celebrating the achievements of 27 area student athletes.
But the students weren’t the only one’s being recognized. Former Southern Connecticut football player and actor Dan Lauria, was back in town, and he received the distinguished American Award.
North Haven head coach Anthony Sagnella was also honored as he was selected to receive the chapters distinguished Coach of the Year Award.
“You know its nice to be recognized by your peers,” said actor Dan Lauria. “You can hear by the laughter that were having a great time with all the guys I played with. Some of the guys I haven’t seen since 1970. It’s just good to be with friends, that’s the most important thing about the award and to acknowledge that we worked hard.”
