Top 50-recruit Tevin Mack granted release from VCU, could UConn be next?

Tevin Mack, the No. 47 overall recruit in the ESPN Top 100, considered UConn before choosing VCU.

(WTNH)–Top-50 ESPN recruit Tevin Mack has been granted a release from his letter of intent with VCU, according to multiple media outlets.

Mack, a 6-foot-7 small forward from Drerer High School in South Carolina, chose the Rams over UConn, South Carolina and Georgia, among others. He is the No. 47-ranked player in the Class of 2015.

Mack left VCU after head coach Shaka Smart decided to take the job at Texas. According to, he may follow Smart to Austin.
