(WTNH)–It’s one of the most difficult decisions for an athlete–when to call it quits. You know you’re body is not up to the rigors of the sport anymore, but leaving the game is never easy.
Connecticut Sun player Katie Douglas wrestled with it, but announced Friday that she is retiring. She had a 12-year pro career after great success in college at Purdue.
Always a consumate pro, Douglas says she knows it’s time.
“I wrestled with the decision and I knew I wanted to come back, because as an athlete I’ve come back from so many different injuries,” Douglas said. “As an athlete too, you hate to be told no. But as soon as I tried to do something as an athlete, my back just wouldn’t respond.”
Douglas retires the all time leading three point shooter in franchise history.
