North Haven football spring game benefits 9-year-old with rare disease

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The North Haven High School football team played its annual spring game Friday, honoring nine-year-old Hunter Pageau. Pageau is battling a rare disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy with Respiratory Distress, or SMARD.

Hunter was able to join the players as they made their way onto the field for the big game. Later in the game, the quarterback hands it off to Hunter and he took it to the house for a touchdown.

All the proceeds from the game will benefit Hunter. It seemed like most of North Haven was there to support him and his family. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
