(WTNH)–Southern Connecticut State University had a couple job openings. The Owls were looking for a pair of head basketball coaches– men’s and women’s. Today, the women’s job got filled by one of their own.
Kate Lynch, the key player on Southern’s 2007 National Championship team, was hired to take over the women’s program. She is the school’s all-time leading scorer.
A two-time All-American as an Owls player, Lynch comes to Southern after serving as head coach at Molloy College.
The next order of business for SCSU’s Athletic Director Jay Moran is to find a coach for the men’s basketball team.
The previous coach, Michael Donnelly, resigned to take the head coaching job at Florida Southern College in May.
