U.S. women’s soccer team celebrates in LA; NYC rally on Friday

(WTNH)–The party is going to go on for a while for the United States women’s soccer team. And why not, right? There is now a parade scheduled to celebrate their World Cup championship.

It will be in New York, Friday at 11 a.m., through the Canyon of Heroes.

Today, fans greeted the team in Los Angeles. This was the team’s first public appearance since winning the cup.

A lot of fans came out to celebrate. Over 25 million people watched on TV– the most watched soccer game in U.S. history. That was Sunday, so there’s been a whole lot of celebrating since then.

“I’ve been celebrating a little too much, so my voice is kind of gone. I left it in Canada,” U.S. forward Alex Morgan said, at the rally in Los Angeles. “I just want to say that you guys are the best fans in the world. Everyday, so far, it feels great to wake up as a champion, and that feeling won’t get old. We’ll have to bring it home in another 4 years.”
