UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — The WNBA’s Connecticut Sun has become the latest franchise to feature a corporate logo on the front of its jerseys.
The team announced Tuesday that it has signed a marquee sponsorship deal with Frontier Communications Corp.
Financial terms were not released, but the agreement includes featuring the communication company’s logo on the team’s jerseys as well as on signage throughout the Mohegan Sun arena. The team said it also will be included in Sun television broadcasts and on team merchandise.
The team became the first independently owned WNBA franchise when the Mohegan tribe purchased the Orlando Miracle in 2003, renamed the franchise and moved it to the Mohegan Sun resort casino in Connecticut.
The franchise had featured the Sun wordmark on home jerseys and the word Connecticut on away uniforms.
