Yale, UNH and Southern coaches talk new college football season

(WTNH)–The three head coaches of the New Haven area college football teams came together on Wednesday night for their annual “Chalk Talk” event. The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce Sports Council puts on the event every year.

Tony Reno of Yale, Chris Pincince of New Haven and Tom Godak of Southern Connecticut State spent some time with the fans, answering questions and talking about the upcoming season.

“We’re very happy with how the offseason’s been going,” Yale’s Reno said. “We’ve had about 100 guys on campus. It’s hard because you don’t get to see it, but our strength coach has given great reports back. The feedback I’ve gotten from our players has been phenomenal.”

“We’re able to spend some quality time with some of the players we inherited when we got here,” said Pincince. “Some of the kids we brought in, [now] we’re able to get more involved in their daily life.”

“We flipped the roster 42 guys, so there’s been a lot of paperwork,” said Godak. “And getting organized with some new faces. There’s a pretty good core still there too.”

SportzEdge will have reports from all of the college camps over the next couple of weeks.
