(WTNH)–The Connecticut Sun honored former player Katie Douglas on Friday night before their game against the New York Liberty (which the Sun lost, 90-78).
Douglas watched as her number 23 was sent up into the rafters, retired alongside fellow Sun greats Nykesha Sales and Margo Dydek.
Douglas retired back in May after battling back injuries. The 14-year veteran played six seasons in Connecticut, and was a five-time WNBA All-Star. She’s also one of the great three-point shooters in league history.
“It’s definitely something I’ll remember forever,” she said. “The fans, again, are second to none here, and just the memories that they gave us thorughtout my entire tenure here.”
“I’ve got so many memories here in this arena, it just means a lot to have my number hanging here and hopefully they’ll be many more to join.”
