EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)–UConn football fans should be feeling pretty good after the team’s season-opening win over Villanova on Thursday.
Sure, the Wildcats are just an FCS opponent, but any win is great for the Huskies as this point, as they try to rebuild from a 2-10 season.
And if the fans are feeling good about the team, you know head Husky Bob Diaco is feeling just….awesome.
Here’s a taste of some of the good things he had to say about the fans and his team:
“I definitely want to acknowledge UConn country, and the Husky fans. The players were so energized by the attendance in the stadium, and the energized tailgating when we pulled up.”
“To see everybody there and excited all the way, was just so good, so awesome.”
“It feels so good to win the opener, get you off to a great start, and reinforce all the stuff that you do for them.”
“I’m proud of them, and it feels so good to feel a winning feeling. You made an investment. What do the results look like? Oh yeah. That’s great!”
“We know who we are. We know where we’re headed. We know it’s going to be a four-quarter fight to the end every game.”
