George Springer rocks UConn helmet as he meets media before Astros return

(WTNH)–New Britain native and Houston Astros outfielder George Springer hasn’t forgotten where he comes from.

The former UConn star was representin’ on Friday, the day after his Huskies beat Villanova, 20-15, in the football season opener, to remain undefeated at 1-0.

Springer wore that UConn helmet as he addressed the media before he was due to make his return to the Astros’ lineup. The outfielder has been out since July 1 with a fractured right wrist.

We’re not exactly sure what reason Springer gave for going all Ricky Williams on everyone and wearing the helmet during the media session, but we’re working on getting answers to that important story for you.

Springer is batting .264 with 14 doubles, 13 home runs, 29 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 75 games for the Astros this season.
