NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)–The Yale football team will finally play a football game this weekend. The Elis will travel to upstate New York to take on Colgate.
After almost a month of camp you can bet the Bulldogs are dying to hit someone from another team.
Head Coach Tony Reno says getting this team motivated to play has not been hard. Over the summer, more than 90 players voluntarily stayed in New Haven to work out together.
Yale Captain Cole Champion says the Bulldogs have built a winning culture.
“You have three, three and a half weeks with your family at the end of May, and then after that you start itching to get back here, ready to work,” he said.
“What’s different is I didn’t have to ask guys to be here. It was just expected,” head coach Tony Reno said. “[They] lift, train, run together. They hang out together, spend nights together. They really get a chance to bond as a team,”
