Bowling Greats Pete Weber and Norm Duke hold clinic in Milford

Weber and Duke find time to school a pair of News 8 staffers

MILFORD, Conn. (SPORTZEDGE)- What’s it like to bowl with a Hall of Fame caliber bowler? On Saturday I found out, and boy do I need a lot of practice.

Pete Weber and Norm Duke, a pair of bowling greats, were in Milford Saturday afternoon, conducting a clinic for eager bowling fans. Weber and Duke spent hours working with nearly 100 people on some of the finer points of the game. Fans from New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts made the trip for a chance to be tutored by two of the most successful bowlers of all-time.

Weber and Duke have each been bowling for over 30 years and combined to win nearly 80 PBA titles, including 17 major events. Weber admitted, to hating the game at one point and nearly quitting to go back to school. Duke told us he always knew he’d be a professional bowler. The two have rolled countless perfect games, they’ve also perfected some trick shots, which Duke put on display during our exhibition.

Duke and Weber agreed to team up with News 8 Meteorologist Kevin Arnone and myself, in a 10 frame battle. Arnone (who has several perfect games under his belt) teamed with Duke, my partner Weber got the short end of the stick (I’m lucky if I bowl 6 times a year). It ended with a 60 pin plus win for Duke and Arnone. Plans are in the works for a 2016 re-match. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
