UConn cornerback Jhavon Williams a big reason for defensive resurgence

(WTNH)–It’s homecoming weekend for the UConn football team, and the Huskies are looking to put on a good show for alumni on Saturday. UConn faces South Florida at Rentschler Field.

The Huskies are coming off of a win last Saturday against Central Florida. At 3-3, the one real constant for this team this year has been the defense. The secondary really seems to be coming on lately. Defensive back Jhavon Williams has three interceptions so far this season, all in road games.

He said the hard work on and off the field is really beginning to pay off.

What’s the key?

“Watching film with my buddies,” Jhavon said. “Coming in on our off days, basically the whole secondary coming in, after practice we eat our dinner and watch film.”

“[It’s] basically just being a student of the game, understanding what I’m getting before I get it, and really just studying and just grinding.”

Williams, who is from Delray Beach, Florida, would love beat another team from the sunshine state.

The Huskies will kick off on Saturday at Noon.
