UConn hockey upsets BU, 5-2, at raucous XL Center

(WTNH)–The UConn hockey team opened eyes last year in their first season in Hockey East. This year, they have the look of a contender. The Huskies opened Saturday with a close loss at 8th-ranked Boston Unviersity, and on Tuesday, they blasted the Terriers, 5-2, in front of raucous fans at the XL Center.

It was a special night on special teams, as UConn scored four power play goals.

Tage Thompson scored his first college goal and finished with a hat trick. Tage is the son of former Hartford Wolf Pack player and current Bridgeport Sound Tigers head coach Brent Thompson.

Evan Richardson also scored his first goal of the season, putting one in the back of the net in the second to give UConn a 2-1 lead.

This was Connecticut’s first-ever win over BU.

They’ll host Notre Dame on Saturday in Hartford.
