Newtown erases 13-point deficit, gets past Glastonbury, 21-20, in Class LL quarterfinals

(WTNH)–Newtown had its hands full with Glastonbury on Tuesday night. The Tomahawks have UConn-bound Keyion Dixon. He had a good game, as a third quarter run sets up a Glastonbury touchdown. The Nighthawks were in a 20-7 hole.

In the fourth though, they turned to their biggest weapon–16-year-old manchild Ben Mason. He bulldozed his way in for a touchdown to bring Newtown within one score at 20-14.

Newtown took the lead with a little over two minutes to play, as they found Jared Pierson–leave it to a Pierson to save you–the Nighthawks took a 21-20 lead.

There was still time for Glastonbury, but their late charge is interrupted by Sam Czel.

The pick ices it for Newtown, 21-20 the final score. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
