Suspensions handed out after fight between Darien, Notre Dame-West Haven

(WTNH)–High school hockey rivalries get pretty intense in Connecticut, and Monday night’s game between Darien and Notre Dame-West Haven was the latest exhibit.

Fighting is never tolerated at the high school level, but emotions got the best of the boys last night. The Green Knights and Blue Wave had several mix-ups, including a brawl at the end of the game, and another in the handshake line.

News 8 was told that at least two players from Darien and one from Notre Dame were issued game misconducts, so by rule, those players must sit out one game.

Notre Dame will take on St. Joseph on Wednesday, while Darien plays at West Haven next Tuesday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
