Top ranked Quinnipiac rolls to 21-1-6 mark behind Sam Anas

Bobcats stay unbeaten in ECAC play

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH)- Bobcats’ assistant captain Sam Anas (Potomac, Maryland) scored twice and assisted on another goal to lead national-ranked No. 1/1 Quinnipiac to a 6-3 win against Colgate in an ECAC Hockey match-up at High Point Solutions Arena. The Bobcats pushed their unbeaten streak to 10 games (6-0-4) and improved to 21-1-6 overall and 12-0-4 in ECAC Hockey.

Anas extended his team-leading point streak to 11 games with his 19th and 20th goals of the season. With an assist late in the game, Anas now has 10 goals and seven assists in his last 11 games and 20 goals and 17 assists for 37 points for the year.

The Bobcats’ special teams were clicking, as Quinnipiac was 3-for-5 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill. Quinnipiac also out-shot Colgate, 40-32 for the game, with goalie Michael Garteig (Prince George, British Columbia) stopping 32 of Colgate’s 35 shots on goal.

Connor Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey) had a goal and an assists while Tim Cliifton (Matawan, New Jersey) scored his 14th goal of the year. Devon Toews (Abbotsford, Britsh Columbia) had an empty-net goal and two assists and freshman Luke Shiplo (Oakville, Ontario) gave Quinnipiac a lead late in the second period.
