(WTNH)–The Yale men’s hockey team made a jump up in the national rankings this week. The Bulldogs are now at No. 10.
Keith Allain’s team is playing its best hockey of the season, at 10-1-2 over its last 13 games, and they’re doing it without some key players, who have been banged up by injury.
Yale’s all-time wins leader, goalie Alex Lyon, is the key. The junior has the second-best save percentage and goals-against average in the country.
“I don’t know if I could appreciate him any more than I already do,” said head coach Keith Allain. “I think one of the remarkable things about him is his consistency.”
“He’s not low-maintenance, because he demands that his teammates are at their best, and he wants to be coached each and every day, but he’s low maintenance in terms of what you’re going to get.”
Yale has 14 wins this season, and Lyon has been in net for every one of them.
