(WTNH)–UConn hockey travels to Providence to take on the defending national champion and fifth-ranked Friars on Friday night. The Huskies will have their hands full.
But Providence won’t have it easy, either, trying to slow down UConn freshman Max Letunov.
The Arizona Coyotes prospect is on fire right now, having scored a goal in six straight games. Letunov is the nation’s third-leading freshman scorer, and he’s certainly drawing lots of attention now.
“I do enjoy it, I don’t mind that kind of attention,” said Letunov, who is a native of Moscow, Russia. “I’m a two-way player. Obviously, I want to create offense, but I always play defense.”
“He’s a good skater. He’s got good puck skills, and good vision,” said UConn forward Spencer Naas. “He always finds a way to create space for himself and his teammates.”
Letunov has 31 points on the season, with six games to go. It will be interesting to see if he returns to UConn next year, or moves on to the professional ranks.
