Orange native develops innovative catcher’s mask

(WTNH)–It’s one of those ideas that leaves you saying, “Why didn’t I think of that?” A catcher’s mask, built to absorb impact and prevent concussions, developed by Orange native Jason Klein.

Kelin took a 75-mph fastball off of the mask on Tuesday as part of our video. He’s a former umpire who knows the pain fast-moving baseballs can cause. Three years in the making, his Force3 Pro Gear mask could change the game.

Atlanta Braves catcher Tyler Flowers is the first big-leaguer to wear the mask, but it’s not just for major league players.
