(WTNH)–Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has signed a contract that includes the largest signing bonus in NFL history.
A source said the 31-year-old has agreed to a deal that will earn him $44 million over the next 12 months, with $40 million of the money coming via signing bonus.
The contract is a three-year extension on Flacco’s original six-year, $120.6 million deal, which he signed back in 2013, after leading the Ravens to the Super Bowl title and winning Super Bowl MVP honors.
The deal was structured that way in order to free up cap space for the Ravens, who are trying to lower their $28.55 million salary cap hit for next season.
Flacco is represented by Hamden Hall football coach and well-known agent Joe Linta.
