(WNTH)–Which UConn men’s basketball team will show up on Thursday night against SMU? The team that beat the Mustangs earlier this year, or the team that didn’t play a lick of defense in a loss to Houston on Sunday?
Now that the calendar has turned to March, the Huskies have to quickly turn around their season of inconsistent play. While most experts believe UConn will make the NCAA Tournament as it stands right now, they’re certainly not a lock.
Head coach Kevin Ollie is getting tired of his team’s up-and-down play.
“Hopefully, we’ll have an ‘up’ against SMU,” Ollie said. “But you can’t play like that, because you’re going to have a ‘down’ sooner or later. You’ve got to have some consistency, you’ve got to take ownership.”
“We just got to learn to be solid as a team. We can’t be playing selfish basketball,” center Amida Brimah added.
Tip-off on Thursday is set for 9 p.m. in Dallas. UConn will close out the regular season on Sunday at home against Central Florida.
