(WTNH)–Yale doesn’t have much time to get ready for the NCAA Tournament, but at least the Bulldogs won’t be traveling too far from home. Yale will get on a bus and head about 100 miles to Providence, to take on the 5th-seeded Baylor Bears.
We’ll see if Yale can use that travel advantage over the Bears, who’ll be making the trip from Texas. Yale players and coaches were actually hoping they’d be shipped far from home, but they’re looking forward to a possible home court advantage in Providence.
“I actually wanted to get on a plane with our guys, that’s what they talked about, but it doesn’t matter right now,” Yale head coach James Jones said. “It’ll be a nice short bus trip up to Providence, and there will be some familiarity with our guys, so they’ll know what to expect in a lot of ways. We’ll have a lot of fans there, and a lot of people who aren’t Yale basketball fans will be by the time the game starts on Thursday.”
It’s just like a trip to play Ivy League rival Brown, right?
“Exactly right,” Jones said. “There should be no difference there, and hopefully we can have the same outcome.”
