Yale hockey seniors hope to make run at second national title

(WTNH)–Four years ago, a group of Yale freshman hockey players won a national title. Now seniors, that group hopes to make another run at the Frozen Four, beginning on Saturday in Albany.

The Bulldogs will take on UMass-Lowell in the East Regional. Head coach Keith Allain will be looking to guys like Stu Wilson. The senior is first on the team in assists, and second in goals. He’s also one of Allain’s extensions on the ice.

“I could make the argument that he’s been our best player all year long,” Allain said. “Of all the guys I’ve coached here, he’s the smartest hockey player that I’ve had.”

“Even as a freshman, I’d say something to him on the bench, and he’d come to me in between periods, and I go OK, so this kid is listening first of all, and he’s got an idea about what he’s trying to do out there.”
