(WTNH)–Former UConn point guard Moriah Jefferson is heading back to Texas. The Glenn Heights native and Huskies great was selected by the San Antonio Stars with the No. 2 pick in the WNBA Draft on Thursday.

It was the first time since 2002 that two players from the same school went 1-2 in the draft, when UConn’s Sue Bird and Swin Cash were taken with the first two picks.

Morgan Tuck was selected with the third overall pick by the Connecticut Sun.

“My heart was beating out of my chest,” Jefferson told ESPN’s Holly Rowe. “I’m really excited to go to San Antonio, it’s close to home, and to get to do it in front of all of my home fans from UConn, it’s amazing.”
