(WTNH)–The WNBA Draft will be held on Thursday night at Mohegan Sun Arena, and it looks like the Connecticut Sun could make the early part of the draft interesting.
There’s no doubt that Breanna Stewart will go No. 1 overall to Seattle, which is becoming like UConn’s west campus. At No. 2, San Antonio seems to be set on point guard Moriah Jefferson, and they aren’t budging on trading the pick.
The Sun hold the 3rd and 4th picks in the draft, but the feeling is that they may not take UConn’s Morgan Tuck. Her knees are a concern, as she’s said they feel like the knees of a “30-year old.” Without the injury issues though, she’d likely land in the top five.
Jefferson would be excited to go back to Texas (she’s from the Dallas area), after four years in Storrs.
New Haven’s Bria Holmes is also expected to be selected on Thursday night, though it’s unclear whether she’ll be taken in the first round. The former Hillhouse star was not one of the 12 players invited to the draft.
