(WTNH)–One of the real thrills for an athlete is hitting a home run. It’s just a terrific feeling running around those bases. Now, imagine doing it twice in the same game and then also, as the pitcher, tossing a perfect game.
That’s exactly what Cheshire High School’s Abby Abramson did on Monday afternoon for the Rams. She pitched a perfect game, didn’t allow anyone on base, and struck out 14 batters.
If that wasn’t good enough, she hit not one, but two homers in a win over Shelton.
Not a bad day at the office.
“Pitching a perfect game is probably one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done, especially with this team. So many great plays were made behind me, it was really a team effort,” Abramson said.
“She’s just a natural leader on and off the field,” said . “She just has this mental strength on the mound, and she brings that momentum with her up to bat, and you know being a pitcher, it probably helps her.”
Cheshire is ranked third in the state. They’ll take on Sheehan on Wednesday, and head to East Haven on Friday night.
