Cheshire’s Abby Abramson pitches perfect game, hits two home runs in win over Shelton

(WTNH)–One of the real thrills for an athlete is hitting a home run. It’s just a terrific feeling running around those bases. Now, imagine doing it twice in the same game and then also, as the pitcher, tossing a perfect game.

That’s exactly what Cheshire High School’s Abby Abramson did on Monday afternoon for the Rams. She pitched a perfect game, didn’t allow anyone on base, and struck out 14 batters.

If that wasn’t good enough, she hit not one, but two homers in a win over Shelton.

Not a bad day at the office.

“Pitching a perfect game is probably one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done, especially with this team. So many great plays were made behind me, it was really a team effort,” Abramson said.

“She’s just a natural leader on and off the field,” said . “She just has this mental strength on the mound, and she brings that momentum with her up to bat, and you know being a pitcher, it probably helps her.”

Cheshire is ranked third in the state. They’ll take on Sheehan on Wednesday, and head to East Haven on Friday night. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
