(WTNH)–Southington native and New Britain Bees relief pitcher Nick Greenwood is getting another shot at his major league dream.

The 28-year-old had his contract purchased by the Minnesota Twins, the Bees announced on Friday. He’ll head to Double-A Chattanooga.

“Greenwood had an excellent start for us and, we’re very excited for him,” Bees Manager Stan Cliburn said in a press release. “We wish him the absolute best with the Twins organization.”

The former 14th-round draft pick appeared in 20 games with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2014 and 15, before signing with the Bees. He played his college ball at the University of Rhode Island.

Greenwood is the second Bees player to have his contract purchased so far this season. Pitcher Eric Fornataro was bought out by the Baltimore Orioles. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
