HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH)–The Hamden High School baseball program has a long, successful history, but it’s been a while since the Green Dragons have had a team like this year’s. Hamden is off to its best start since 1977, and the team believes it can make a big run in the postseason.
“Nobody on this team ever doubts that we’re going to win,” said head coach Chris Borelli. “It’s an attitude that we bring to the field.”
Borelli used to play for the Green Dragons, and now in his fifth season on the job, his team has put together a special season.
One of the major pieces to the team’s success so far has been senior Ron Grant, who is one of the best pitchers in the state. The lefty will play at Central Connecticut State next year.
“We have a lot of competitive players on this team, and we all try to one-up each other as best we can,” Grant said. “The competition we have is awesome.”
