Jennie Finch makes baseball history; manages the Bridgeport Bluefish

Finch becomes first female to manage a professional baseball team

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) United States softball star Jennie Finch is undefeated as a professional baseball manager, she’s 1-0. Finch got that win Sunday in Bridgeport, when she was invited to manage the Bluefish for the day. In the process, the gold medal winning pitcher became the first woman to ever manage a pro baseball team.

Finch, with the help of Bridgeport manager Luis Rodriguez, led the Bluefish to a 3-1 win over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

Finch also threw out the ceremonial first pitch, and guess what?
She can bring it overhand too, she threw a strike right down the middle.

An All-American at Arizona, who led the Wildcats to a national championship, Finch was excited for the opportunity to manage the Bluefish. Her husband, Casey Daigle a former professional pitcher, kidded her that she better win.
Of course, Finch wanted to win but making an impression on young girls, including her daughter, was the most important part of the day.
