(WTNH)–On Thursday night, UConn’s ace pitcher Anthony Kay could see his dreams of playing major league baseball come true.
The MLB Draft is set to begin at 7 p.m. (MLB Network), and the lefty, who head coach Jim Penders called one of the best to ever come out of UConn, is expected to be a first or second-round pick.
Kay went 9-2 this season and helped lead the Huskies to the NCAA Tournament, and the brink of a regional final appearance.
The draft though, is nothing new to Kay. The Long Island native was taken by the Mets in the 29th round coming out of high school, but he opted to go to college instead.
It’s certainly worked out for him.
