Shelton’s Chris Kanios signs letter of intent to play baseball at Central; could play football too

(WTNH)–Friday was a big day for Shelton baseball player Chris Kanios. The Gaels’ two-sport standout signed a letter of intent to play collegiately at Central Connecticut State.

Kanios was joined by his family and coaches on Friday morning to make it official. The all-state football and baseball player will also have the chance to suit up for the Blue Devils on the gridiron.

“Central gave me a scholarship for baseball, but they gave me an opportunity to play both if I wanted to,” Kanios said. “Baseball is my first love, I went up for a visit and it felt like home to me, and the baseball diamond is like home to me.”

Kanios was originally going to prep school to play football at Milford Academy, but will head to Central after receiving the scholarship offer. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
