Sun edge Storm, 77-76, in Breanna Stewart’s return to Connecticut

(WTNH)–It was a welcome back party for UConn legend Breanna Stewart.

Geno Auriemma was there, so was the UConn women’s basketball team, as the Connecticut Sun hosted Seattle at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday night.

The Storm feature Stewart, Kaleena Mosuqeda-Lewis and Sue Bird, three UConn greats, and this time around, it was Bird who stole the show, netting 24 points and dishing out 8 assists.

Stewart had a quiet night, finishing with just 10 points. But her former UConn teammate, Morgan Tuck, played lights out for Connecticut. Tuck came off the bench to score 20 points.

The Sun got a much-needed win, 77-76, their first home win and just their second win of the season.

For Stewart and Bird, it’s always nice to be back in CT. And for the rookie, it’s nice having Bird to look up to.
