(WTNH)–Kemba Walker has accomplished a lot since he left Connecticut.

After grabbing the rest of the college basketball world by the throat in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, the 6-1 dynamo from the Bronx has gone on to an excellent career in the pros.

Walker averaged 20.9 points, 5.2 assissts and 4.4 rebounds last season for the Charlotte Hornets, and he was considered one of the league’s biggest All-Star snubs.

He’s only getting better, which should give UConn fans plenty of reason to celebrate one of their own making it big at the next level. If only they had a chance to watch him play more, right?

Well, this October, Huskies fans will have that chance. Walker and the Charlotte Hornets will travel to Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville to take on the Boston Celtics in a preseason game on Saturday, October 8.

The game will begin at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.com.

The Celtics have played preseason games in Connecticut before, including hosting the New York Knicks at Mohegan Sun in 2014. The two teams also played at the XL Center in Hartford that season.

The C’s most famous moment in Connecticut came at the Hartford Civic Center in 1986, when Larry Bird hit a shot from behind the backboard. Like the game, it didn’t count, but it will be remembered by fans for a long time.
