(WTNH)–No disrespect to Lisa Leslie, Sheryl Swoopes, or anyone on the 1996 Olympic team, but this year’s Team USA squad may be the best we’ve ever seen.

And they’ll be in Bridgeport on Friday night.

Although this team is loaded with talent and an overwhelming favorite to win gold in Rio, they’re still eager to learn, according to head coach Geno Auriemma.

Of course, Geno is used to coaching loaded teams, and a good portion of Team USA has UConn ties. But coach says the vets don’t mind being coached. In fact, they welcome it.

“I think they like to be coached as much, if not more than the young kids. The 18-22 year olds don’t know how to be coached, because a lot of them have never been under that kind of scrutiny before,” Auriemma said.
