Travelers executive Jay Fishman dies after battle with ALS

(WTNH)–Travelers executive chairman Jay Fishman has lost his battle with ALS. He was 63 years old.

Fishman was a big part of the Travelers Championship, held at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell each summer.

He was beloved by those involved with the tournament and became a source of inspiration for players, like Bubba Watson, who donated $100,000 to help fight ALS at a dinner held in Fishman’s honor during Travelers week.

That dinner raised nearly $3 million towards the cause. Fishman was very visible during the tournament, congratulating Jim Furyk for his PGA Tour record-breaking 58 on Sunday.

Fishman was diagnosed with ALS two years ago. He stepped down as CEO of Travlers in 2015. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
