Caroline Wozniacki ousted in first round of Connecticut Open

(WTNH)–Four-time Connecticut Open champion Caroline Wozniacki made her earliest ever exit from the field on Monday, falling in straight sets to Jelana Ostapenko, 7-5, 6-2. Wozniacki, who won the event four straight times from 2008-11, has struggled recently, falling as low as No. 51 in the world rankings.

Had she advanced, Wozniacki would have faced one of her best friends, Agniezska Radwanska (ranked No. 4 in the world), in the second round.

Wozniacki was entered the Connecticut Open field as a wildcard. Fellow wildcard Genie Bouchard won her first-round match, 6-2, 6-1 over Annika Beck.
