Fourth-ranked Aggie Radwanska takes out teenager, advances in Connecticut Open

(WTNH)–The Connecticut Open’s top seed took the court on Tuesday night, as Aggie Radwanska, the fourth ranked player in the world, faced her second round opponent.

When the draw was announced on Friday, most people were probably looking forward to a match between Radwanska and her good friend Caroline Wozniacki.

No one told 19-year-old Jelena Ostapenko, who upset Wozniacki on Monday. Keep an eye on the teenager, as she’s got a lot of game.

Ostapenko made Radwanska work hard during the first set that took nearly an hour. Eventually, Radwanska pulled away and won it, 7-5. She made quick work of Ostapenko in the second set, winning 6-1, to advance to round 3.

Wednesday night’s featured match is Petra Kvitova and Genie Bouchard. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
