West Haven football emerging as one of state’s best teams

(WTNH)–The West Haven High School football team is quickly emerging as one of the state’s best. The Blue Devils routed Hamden in our first SportzEdge Game of the Week, then went to Middletown and knocked Xavier out of the Top 10.

The Westies are ranked No. 5 in the state going into Week 3. They’ve done it with a tough defense and versitale running game. Coach Rich Boshea says his guys are performing the way he envisioned–on and off the field.

“I’d say right now we are living up to expectations,” Boshea said. “They’re acting well in school, they’re doing well in their classes, and they’re playing the game well right now.”

“We’re focusing. No more playing around in practice anymopre. We know what we have to do,” said running back Anthony Godfrey. “Everyone does what they have to do in order for the team to win. Everybody does their part, there’s no selfishness. Everyone’s putting work in for everybody.”

West Haven will take on Creed/Career/Whitney Tech (easy for us to say) in their home opener on Friday night.
