Jalen Adams ready to take over as UConn’s leader

(WTNH)–The UConn men’s basketball team officially gets the season started this Saturday, when the Huskies will practice for the first time.

A sense of excitement surrounds this year’s team, as UConn has three seniors to lean on. The five freshmen are talented enough to play quality minutes, too. One guy to watch as he tries to take on a leadership role is sophomore Jalen Adams.

Who could forget his buzzer-beating bomb against Cincinnati last year in the AAC tournament?

Or the fact that he waved off an older player, Daniel Hamilton, to take that shot?

Adams showed he has a take-charge type of swagger during his freshman season.

“I think I’ve grown a lot, as far as maturity and as far as just soaking everything up from the upperclassmen, and my coaches,” he said. “I’m ready to show everybody else what I’ve learned.”

As for team expectations this year, Adams believes in his group.

“I think this team is capabale of a deep run in March,” he said.
