HAMDEN, Conn (WTNH) — The fourth-ranked Bobcats finished off a weekend sweep of Maine on Saturday, as Sydney Rossman picked up her 19th career shutout. Quinnipiac improved to 2-0 on the season after back to back home wins at the High Point Solutions Arena.
After surrendering four goals the previous night, the senior netminder was locked in on Saturday afternoon, steering aside all 17 shots she faced. The ECAC Goaltender of the year in 2015-16, Rossman’s play Saturday was reminiscent of her dominating performance last season.
After a scoreless first period, the Bobcats got on the board at 13:32 in the second period when T.T. Cianfarano rifled a shot into the upper right corner of the net to give the Bobcats the lead. Cianfarano has roared out of the gate with three goals, and two assists in the first two games of the season.
From there, Quinnipiac never looked back as Megan Turner would score just over five minutes later on a wrap around goal. Turner wasn’t finished though, as she would set up Sandy Hook native Melissa Samoskevich later in the period. Turner finished the game with a goal and assist for the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac hits the road next weekend as they travel north to take on the UConn Huskies on Friday for a 7 o’clock start.
